My son rides in these and like em. crashed a couple of time and saved his thighs. ok.
Good shorts! I am always nervous ordering clothing because one company's large could fit like another small. I ordered them in 36 and the fit like I expected. They do breath better then I thought they would when they first showed up but they are still a little warmer then I would like in the summer. The durability is excellent. I have had a pretty rough season and they have held up really well.
Overall, this is a great pair of shorts, with a few minor dings. Pros: Extremely rugged material that will clearly take a beating. I like the hip pads (they're easily removable). The closure system is genius (moved to the side to avoid any damage during belly flops) and works very well. Once they're on, they fit really well (getting them on -- at least for me -- always feels weird -- like they're gonna be too tight, but they end up just fine). Cons: The material is so rugged that it perhaps is a little TOO rugged. I don't really care how clean they are, but for people who do, they're very difficult to get the mud out of. I have a black pair and after one particularly sloppy ride, the stains seem pretty permanent. Another con is that the material on the inside of the knees is pretty harsh. Doesn't bother me as I ride with knee pads, but for people who don't, I can imagine the possibility of your knees getting rubbed raw with whatever is on the inside. One last thing -- they are lined, but not with any crotch padding. The liner is like basketball short material. Overall, I'd recommend these for people who beat the crap out of their shorts, wear knee pads, and don't care how they look (which is probably most of us out there). For those who need something a little more comfortable, the AlpineStars Manual shorts are a little less durable, but IMO much more comfortable.
These shorts are good. they breath good, do to the inside liner, yet they are thick and sturdy. i really like the adjustable strap. the only thing I would say is that if you are gettin white, be prepared to do a lot of scrubing to keep them clean.
