Troy Lee Designs Skyline Shorts Fall 2013
The Skyline short is affordable gear with an expensive gear feel. Built for track, trail, or whatever lies between, the Skyline products are versatile, athletic and comfortable. Snap in the TLD short for longer XC days, or just pull them over some TLD protection shorts for bombing downhill or spinning laps at the BMX track.
I can't say enough good things about these shorts. Summer rides regularly see us riding when it's 95 degrees with 80% humidity and most shorts are oppressively hot & uncomfortable but I give these shorts two thumbs up. I'm picky about shorts. I don't like tiny little pockets that I can't get my gloved hands into. Fox's shorts struggle in this area but not Troy Lee's. I can easily get a trail map out of my pocket without needing to take my glove off. The pockets do NOT have any closure system, so don't put your new smart phone in them & head out for an epic. Use your head & put the expensive cargo in your backpack. I also want my shorts to cup my sack so I can go from standing to sitting & back to standing without any interruption in pedaling due to getting unexpectedly impaled by my seat . Troy Lee nailed it with these shorts. They also out-perform Fox's shorts in this department as well. I can also get off the back of the seat on the super step stuff without getting snagged on the back of the seat. They also put these extra hems at the legs so you can cut them to your desired length with them getting all haggard looking. This is great thinking on their part. Although I'm happy with their full length, if you like a shorter length you can easily customize them to your liking. I ride mine with & without the chammy shorts & they're just as comfortable either way. As for crashing, that's a tricky one to address. I've taken a few spills in these shorts and mine never tore but due to their lightweight fabric they may not hold up if you decide to have a garage sale at the bottom of that big huck you've been working up the nerve to hit. But I don't hold this against these shorts because they aren't a DH short. They have a Velcro fly which like very much. It prevents chafing & is easier to close up when you take a mid-ride relief instead of fumbling with a zipper. There are two extra closure systems on the waist that work very well. I like Troy Lee's better than Fox's design because Troy Lee keeps the Velcro on the outside of the short where it won't scratch your skin like the Fox shorts do. They also have a cool little secret pocket on the waistline but I'm kind of paranoid about putting something like a multi-tool right up against my spine so I haven't put anything other than a couple of Gu packets in my pocket. After your ride you will find these shorts to be very comfy. And if you have rides that can include a swim, these are the shorts for you. The dry out super quick & don't get all bulky when you start riding after the swim. I currently have about 4 of these shorts & some Fox shorts as well & if my Skylines are clean, or even sort of clean, I grab them first for my ride. I bet you'll do the same.
Great fit true to size very we'll made awesome product...bought the other colors as we'll ..
Really like these shorts, super thin and comfy. I typically wear them with a padded liner for more comfort. Love the fluorescent yellow color. Very happy with this purchase
