Urge Endur-O-Matic Helmet
Inspired by DH and Enduro riding but suitable for all disciplines, the Endur-O-Matic is as versatile as it gets. It has eight round vents (30mm diameter) that are positioned to create a Venturi effect and internal channels regulate air flow. The weight of the visor is close to zero grams and is flexible, which helps prevent injuries in the event of a crash. Comfort is guaranteed by soft, removable, washable pads. The frontal pad features a very simple, but unique innovation: the Gangsta pad. The pad ends just under/outside the mould (around15mm). Being exposed to the air while riding keeps this part of the pad dry, allowing it to absorb sweat. Fitted for Enduro, All Mountain, XC, trail riding, single speed and city commuter use, the Endur-O-Matic is a Jack of all trades.
Disagree with someones comment about visor being too flimsy. It is thin but holds its position well. In a crash it will flex and bend and go right back in place. Any other visor would be ripped off and busted in pieces. Ventilation seems like it wouldn't be great but riding in Texas it has never seemed any more hot than a traditional helmet. Plus the built in sweat liner works awesome.
I was looking for a new MTB helmet as my previous one was in need of replacement. I stumbled across the Endur-O-Matic and it was love at first sight. The design somehow looks modern and retro at the same time. The protection that this helmet has is awesome, none of that, "Let's throw a visor on a roadie helmet" mentality for Urge. It is actually quite light as well. I only have three minor gripes (hence 4 stars): 1. The hole in the visor. A hole lets light through. Kinda defeats the point of a visor. But hey it's unique. 2. The visor makes it difficult to mount a GoPro to the front. Had to mount mine to the side. 3. The ventilation could be better.
This is a great lid. It's light and extremely comfortable. I like the flexible visor because I've had visors crack on me in the past. I breathes really well despite the number of vents. The best part is that the Endur-O-Matic doesn't look like every other helmet on the trail.
I bought the Enduro-Matic, and when I pulled it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the visor twisted up like a pretzel. Upon grabbing it with the intention of trying to straighten it out, I realized that said 'visor' had the consistency of Art(construction) paper. It's thin enough to where if you were to use this thing on a downhill run, the wind blowing in your face would twist the thing in every direction. I then moved on to the shell, and it too is WAY too thin. I got the impression that you could drive the blunt end of a ball-point pen through it with little effort. The bottom line is, this thing will NOT protect your melon against things like rocks, cement, asphalt, DIRT CLODS... That it costs $115 is BEYOND ridiculous. Believe me when I say it's NOT WORTH $20! It looks like a 'toy' helmet you'd find in Toys R Us for a 3-y/o. I couldn't return the thing fast enough, and I URGE anyone considering this pile to MOVE ON to another REAL hemlet.
I needed a new lid since the 8 year old Giro Helmet I has was literally falling apart. I heard such good reviews about Urge and their line of helmets that I had to try it out for myself. I got the Endur-O-Matic in md/lg. Having a large head makes helmet options difficult but Urge sizing has gotten it down right with their interchangable pads. Those pads are also washable which is great for getting rid of helmet stench. It's a very comfortable and lightweight helmet, the added protection over XC style helmets is great and I've even worn it on DH trails as it's more comfortable than a full face. However for long trails, this does get hot and wouldn't be suitable for summer or any hot weather riding. Overall it's a very capable helmet for Enduro or All Mountain style riding. Comes with enough stickers to fill up a new helmet or an entire bike. Also has the nicest helmet bag I've ever seen. One thing they should include with these helmets are replacement velcro pads as they tend to come off over time.
