Vee Rubber Flying V 29x2.20 Folding Tire
The Vee Flying V is a great tire for mountain bike use. Tapered ramped center knobs help with traction. Long side knobs for fantastic cornering. The tire is made with a folding bead, dual compound, and 120 threads per inch casing material. We recommend this tire if you're planning on going hard.
I found these tires for 9.99 and figured why not try them. They are great. I have amazing grip around the corners even at high speed. They slide some in muddy conditions, but not as much as I expected. They are light and roll very fast. I would buy these again and am going to buy a Vee Rubber rear tire when my small block 8s wear out
Have put 200 plus miles on this tire. Have used it on the rear only so far. Bought two when they were on sale and bought 2 more on a free shipping day. Rolls fast, hooks up well in most conditions, although I probably would not recommend it during the rainy season if you live with a lot of muddy trails. Have a few muddy sections on the trails where I ride and tire is not an issue in these sections. The low profile tread does not pick up a lot of mud and sling it on the bike.
These were on sale so I figured not much risk to give one a try. Slapped it on tubless on the rear of my Tallboy and hit the NorCal hardpack. This sucker rails! Ordered a couple more an threw one on my SS and the performance mashing up hills was outstanding. I have since tried it on Fort Ord sand, excellent, and mildly muddy conditions after a downpour and it still performed admirably. I have a 24 hour race coming up in a couple of weeks and this tire has gained my confidence enough to be the one rolling the rear with a WildRacer up front for a bit more bite. Next time these go on sale I'm buying 10 of them.
Great cheap tire. Replaced Maxxis Ardent on my Kona. Thanks for the great deal Price Point.
I change tires all the time just to try them out and so far it always seems like there is a trade off for grip/speed...but not with the flying vee. I use this tire on the front only so far in really dry and dusty to damp and somewhat slimy conditions. This tire is not only very fast, it also grips really well in corners. I have about 50 miles on it now and I'm very impressed. Dont let the short knobs fool you. I'm going to order a couple more to have for when this one wears out and maybe try it on the back too.
These tires worked great on my trail rides! No prob on cornering and traction. The fantastic bargain price and fast shipping were added bonus!
Bought these while Pricepoint was having a sale on them for $9.99. Threw one on the rear to replace a worn out Kenda small block 8 and LOVE them. Lightweight, 120tpi, very fast rolling, easy tubeless application, and inexpensive. Can't go wrong with these guys. -Carlos
Good on concrete and hard pack.
To be honest I didn't really expect much from these tires when I bought them. Taking them out to the desert, I was surprised at how grippy the traction was going through rock gardens. Knobs are pretty tame compared to most tires, so I would only recommend these for hard pack or dry trail use.
I like these tires. They mounted tubeless easily, and they feel fast on the road. The knobs barely count as knobs, they're so small. I haven't ridden them in the wet and slop yet, but they'd be perfect for gravel. Also cheap.
For the price, you'll be hard pressed to find a better, lighter tire. I'll be buying them again, highly recommend them.
For Tucson this tire chews up and rides thru Fantasy Island like its nothing. Railed into corners hit the sugar sand at speed and had no issues at all. Went over what little rocks there were and the they just kept on grabbing at whatever I threw at them. Def stay way clear of the mud...that's obvious these tires don't have the depth for that. I was shocked at what little depth they have. But as mentioned earlier I put these through their paces and was not disappointed at all. Final verdict: good, cheap, fast tire for running thru the southwest avoiding cactus and running on hard packed single track.
