Casing Failures - May 14, 2014

Fairhope, AL

Initial reactions were the same as everyone else: great tire for money, good rolling, long wearing. However, after 600 miles my rear tire developed a bulge in the casing, making it unrideable. I contacted Vittoria, and I am awaiting a new replacement tire. Today I discovered my front tire has now also developed deformities in the casing, just like the rear did. Now I have to order a new tire and wait on two shipments. These tires are great at first glance but they are only a dismal 26TPI! This makes me believe that is the fault of the casing failures. It cannot handle the high max 130PSI rating and/or durability of road forces. In the long run you will have to spend more when these prematurely fail on you and you buy something else. Unless Vittoria makes a new version, steer clear is my advice.

Good Tire, Great Price - Apr 30, 2014

NYC, NY

I use this tire on my single-speed, run around bike. It doesn't have extensive commuter usage but the tread holds up well to the tire-shredding terrors of NYC streets like piles of broken glass, random metal objects and potholes. I have had a few imbedded pieces of glass that haven't broken through to cause a flat yet. The tread is simple, with a nice smooth centerline rolling patch and a good waffle pattern on the outer edges for cornering grip. The tread isn't deep, but sheds moderate water well. The rubber creates more friction than the brakes, meaning that stopping is well controlled with skidding only happening at full braking in cold and/or wet weather. I would definitely buy these tires again.

Good quality tire for a spare bike or for just cruising around. Wire bead so a bit heavier but a good all around tread pattern. Dependable tire.
