Yakima HoldUp 1 1/4-inch Hitch Rack
The HoldUp is Yakima's fastest, easiest way to load bikes. Its beefed-up arm pivot makes it stronger than ever and the side-to-side adjustability reduces the chance for bike-to-bike interference.
All of the above means this things is a great value. Got 4 stars because the Kuat NV has a work stand for fixing your bike on the back of your car. Swag.
Your search for a bike rack ends here. Seriously, buy this thing. It'll be the last rack you ever buy. The engineering & design are top notch. It can hold two 25+ lbs. mountain bikes steady over potholed Michigan roads. And it even has a bottle opener for those post-ride brews! But I think the best part are the built-in bike locks, as they quell my anxiety whenever I have to park and go inside somewhere.
It's so easy. I have a Nissan Xterra and I tilt it down flat to open the back hatch. With one bike on it in the most rearward position, I can tilt the rack back and still open the hatch. The unit is pretty heavy, but built solid. Definitely recommend this.
I resisted the hitch mt for years in favor of roof mounts. When I finally gave in and bought this I wish I had done it sooner. Its Yakima solid and well designed. Keeps the weight and the mud off the roof and on the back. Only disadvantage is you can't open your rear lid (Outback wagon) with the rack in the up position.
