Bottom Brackets – Size & Style

> Style: We carry ISIS , Octalink, Hollowtech, and X-Type Bottom Brackets. This is the Spindle interface of the crank arm. ISIS and Octalink are splined systems; Octalink only fits Shimano Octalink arms while many other brands use ISIS for the attaching method. Hollowtech and X-Type are for the new style 'two piece' cranks with the Spindle being attached to the side arm. Hollowtech and X-Type Bottom Brackets are cross compatible. Older and inexpensive models use a square taper on the spindle, we do not carry this type.

>Size: English and Italian refers to the thread pitch in the shell and in some cases width which is either 68mm or 73mm. Some newer suspension designs use a 83mm or 100mm shell width. Most bottom bracket cups have English threading. The left (non-drive) cup has right hand threading and the right (drive-side) has left hand threading- this is so as not to have the Bottom Bracket loosen and fall apart while pedaling. Many Italian road frames have both cups right hand threading.
