The EC90 zero-offset is a super-light and strong, all-carbon (except for the bolt) seat post. Easton’s revolutionary EMC (Easton Matrix Composite) technology is used to form long-fiber composite material into the finely detailed seat post head. Now with Carbon Nanotube (CNT) technology.

The weakest areas in a traditional carbon-fiber component are the tiny spaces between the fibers that contain only resin. To radically improve strength and toughness in these critical areas, Easton Scientists have developed an innovative Enhanced Resin System using carbon nanotubes (CNT). Carbon nanotubes are an array of carbon atoms arranged in a pattern of hexagons and pentagons (similar to the pattern found on soccer balls). These structures can be manufactured in tubular shapes one billionth of a meter in diameter, hence the name nanotube. Carbon nanotubes have been called “the strongest fiber that will ever be made”. Nanotubes have a strength-to-weight ratio orders of magnitude greater than steel.

Fine detail and wide variations in the thickness of cross-sectional areas are not possible with traditional methods of composite fabrication. Injection molding is a process that can create fine detail and wide variations in wall thickness, but injection molded components lack strength. The process used to create EMC components is superior to injection molding in that it allows the use of a new long-fiber carbon composite material. This new process, called compression molding, can be thought of as a 3-D forging of composites. Compression molding is unique in that it allows fine detail to be molded into a component that is made of 60% carbon fiber. The 60% fiber-to-resin ratio of EMC is nearly identical to the resin ratios of pre-preg materials used in the manufacturing of existing carbon-fiber components.

Our computer-modulated draw benches allow us to create multiple tapers in the same tube, so the tube walls can be reinforced anywhere along their length with incredible precision. The result is jeweler-smooth walls that eliminate the stress points typical of other manufacturer’s tubing. Strength, weight, fatigue life, and responsiveness are all enhanced.

Easton engineers ingeniously reshaped the steerer tube to prevent the clamping mechanism from gouging or scoring the steerer tube. This patented Relief-Area Design (RAD) ensures durability without added material or weight. RAD technology also enhances the durability of Easton’s carbon seat posts which can also be compromised by seat post clamps.

No, an I-Beam saddle will only work with I-Beam specific seat posts. The I-Beam system uses an integrated composite base and clamping area. The I-Beam system eliminates popped and bent rails forever while shedding weight.

How do I know what size diameter Easton EC90 Zero Seatpost I should order to fit my bike?

Seatposts come in many different diameters. To figure out what size diameter Easton EC90 Zero Seatpost you need for your bike you should first check your current seatpost. To find out the diameter of your seatpost, you must remove the seatpost from the bicycle and look for the size, which is generally stamped just below the “Minimum Insert” line toward the bottom. The number will be a three digit number (such as 26.8 or 27.2, etc.) If you are unable to read the size or it is not stamped, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your frame for the specifications.
