How do you make a good bike component better? Make it lighter and carbon fiber-ier! The Stroker Carbon packs all the features of the Stroker Trail, but with the addition of a carbon fiber lever. We also substituted aluminum-backed pads in place of the Trail's standard steel-backed pads. The result is almost certainly the most capable, lightweight, and controllable brake at its price.
Close-pack construction (CPC) results in zero wasted space. Every element of this radial master cylinder is optimized for strength, light weight and compact size.
A perfect lever design disappears in your hand. An internal lever team used bench-marking, Hayes test program feedback, CMM scanning and finite element analysis, all to make a lever that you won't even notice.
The aluminum dial uses a spring detent for reach adjustment with positive clicks. Oversize metal bushings surround the dial yielding smooth actuation and durability.
The Stroker's insulated caliper pistons control fluid temperature during heavy braking, so every braking stroke engages the caliper smoothly and consistently, eliminating lever fluctuation and providing a reliable feel.

Last year when we introduced Code, it was an immediate success because of its unique blend of huge power, bombproof strength and matchless precision. But at Avid we're all about improving on the small details, so we locked the product designers in a room with some pizza and told them not to come out until they found a way to improve Code somehow. Through the use of magnesium, some hardware improvements, and a little redesigning, they figured out how to shave 60 grams (that's over 10%) off the weight, without compromising the performance at all. Then to top it off, they developed a brand-new, drool-proof galvanized finish. Needless to say, the pizza was the best investment we ever made.
