Did you know that derailleur hangers were made to break?
Actually, it is rare for them to break. They are actually quite strong. But they are intended to break in the instant before your frame would. In the old days when all frames were made of steel, if you broke the place on your frame where the derailleur mounted you could either bend it back in place (because steel is not only bendable, but re-bendable) or weld a new one on. With today's frame materials of aluminum, carbon and titanium, those fixes are no longer an option. Much better to break the hanger than it is to break you beloved frame. And that is why we have replaceable derailleur hangers!
Derailleur hangers are specific to the frame. This derailleur hanger works for the Sette Primo frame. Pictured above are both sides of the derailleur hanger for reference.

A reworked cage and pulley combo are optimized for the larger 10 speed cassette and narrower chain. The RD-M663 is a traditional style derailleur and is not made in a Rapid Rise version.
The RD-M663 is offered only in a long cage version which will allow you to take full advantage of the astounding gear range of the Dyna-Sys platform. Riding in a 42/36 combo is no problem.
Please note that the RD-M663 is designed for 10 speed only. It is not meant for use with 9 speed components.

Hybrid ceramic bearing pulleys and the titanium parallelogram spring further supercharge the overall component speed, accuracy, and durability. Amazingly, these design choices yield an astonishing 153g mechanism.

Exact Actuation
Sram launched their road technology from scratch. They reapplied their MTB proven SRAM 1:1 actuation ratio (shifter cable travel : derailleur movement) for 10 speed rear shifting. EA helps to simplify/stabilize the uneasy act of balancing rear derailleur hanger design, tight cog spacing and exact cable tension. The result: the easiest index shifting system to set up and it stays that way.

If Shimano's new 10 speed shifters are the biscuits of Dyna-Sys, their new 10 speed rear derailleur is the gravy and you can't have one without the other.
The all-new RD-M780 rear derailleur uses Shimano's proven Shadow design to give it a very low profile to keep it out of harm's way. A reworked cage and pulley combo are optimized for the larger 10 speed cassette and narrower chain. The RD-M780 is a traditional style derailleur and is not made in a Rapid Rise version.
The RD-M780 is offered in both a long and a mid cage version. The long cage will allow you to take full advantage of the astounding gear range of the Dyna-Sys platform. Riding in a 42/36 combo is no problem.
If you're going to run a single ring or a double with a bash guard, the mid cage would be a good option. The largest gear combination it can accommodate is a 32 while in the 36 tooth cog.
Please note that the RD-M780 is designed for 10 speed only. It is not meant for use with 9 speed components.
The long cage tips our scale at 229g. The mid cage sits at a good 228g. The redesigned instructions manual sits at an astonishing 13g and the plastic bag in the box pushes 2g.

It sees a re-engineered architecture that provides a smooth, linear feel at the shifter and is remarkably stable despite suspension movement, trail chatter or inevitable cable contamination thanks to a stabilizer on the derailleur that works like a rachet and does not allow the chain to whipp the chainstay during those nasty sections.
