Park Tool Spoke Wrench
Professional quality, precision-sized spoke wrenches are hardened and nickel plated for long service. Park Tool Spoke Wrenches are vinyl coated.
Pedro's wrenches have a much better hand feel. These are less ergonomic. The Pedro's also have a diamond shaped hole on one side that takes longer to get on the nipple but is more secure if you're working with older or beat up nipples. The Pedro's are still easy to find. If you want the real Cadillac of wrenches, though, check out Hozan's old ergo spoke wrenches. They look like freaking stingrays but they feel like heaven on your thumbs. If you can piece together a set of those on Ebay or at garage sales, do it. Especially NOS--wrenches do wear out over time.
These are great little tools, work really well, and come with three sizes. Made with the quality that's to be expected when it comes to Park Tool. Five Stars!
Precise and definitely worth the money
This is the best spoke tool I've used so far, others I've used weren't machined well and so would fit the nipples tight and would round them off, the Park brand fits just tight enough so that it doesn't slip on the nipple and damage it. However, since most wheels today come with bladed spokes you also need to buy a bladed spoke holder tool along with the spoke wrench so you can hold the bladed spoke in it's proper place while you adjust the spoke.
I've built several sets of wheels using these wrenches. The shape is perfect and just the right size for most wheel/spoke counts. I have an entire set and haven't run into any weird sizes that these don't fit.
These are really well made spoke wrench, I've had a couple of these for too many years to remember and they still work without damaging the nipples, so why spend any more money?
Do not waste time trying other brand spoke wrenches. Park spoke wrenches work great. The only one better is another Park spoke wrench model, with one more gripping surface; which requires you to bring the spoke wrench down and over the spoke, rather than from the side as you do with the model reviewed. The model reviewed is easier to work with. The other one is for really tough to turn nipples. Use a bit of WD 40 if the spoke nipple does not turn readily and this one works fine.
