Truvativ Descendant GXP 83mm Crankset w/ 36t Chainring

When your eye is on the podium, there is no room for compromise.

Truvativ's downhill-race specific Descendant crank uses the same bullet-proof forged, AL7050 aluminum as the Holzfeller crank, but in a second-shaving 858g package. That's close to a half a pound lighter than their Holzfeller crank without the wallet-lightening cost of carbon!

Showing Questions 1-5 of 5

Q: Is the crank spindle for 83mm shell (since the BB is for 83mm), I assume?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: Is the spindle length of the crank for 83mm bb shell?

A: Yes, this is a DH crankset only designed to be used with an 83mm DH bottom bracket spacing.

Q: I am kind of out of the loop on bottom brackets. Could you tell me if this would fit a 2006 Kona Coilair? Thanks

A: Unfortunately you will need a 68/73mm bottom bracket for the Coilair and this will not fit.

Q: Can the chain ring be swapped for a 32 or 34 tooth for a more versatile range in a 1 x10 package.?

A: Unfortunately this is only offered with a 36t chainring and cannot be modified prior to purchase.

Q: What size pedal bolt will fit this crankset?

A: These cranks work with 9/16” pedal spindles.

Good cranks, cheesy bottom bracket - May 24, 2014

The cranks are nice, but I was not a fan of their bottom bracket. The way bearing preload is set relies on a cheesy plastic insert. Mine developed play a month in that couldn't be adjusted out. However, I see tons of these working reliable on other bikes. I replaced mine with a set of Saint's, which I like so, so much better.
